Ireland has 111 documented diveable shipwrecks spanning over 400 years of maritime history, from the 1588 Spanish Armada to modern cargo vessels. The wrecks range from 2 metres to 134 metres depth across 22 coastal regions.
The Malin Head area of County Donegal contains one of the highest concentrations of significant deep wrecks in Europe, including WWI battleships, troopships, and WWII tankers carrying Sherman tanks on the seabed.
19 of Ireland's diveable wrecks are designated war graves — final resting places of crew lost in both World Wars. Diving is permitted at most sites but artefact removal is strictly prohibited.
